Mr.Erbil Krr (Mohair) Fabric Ties:
Mr. ِErbil’s custom-made tie is made of "Krr" Mohair. Krr fabric (Mohair) comes from Angora (Maraz) goat fur. One batch of krr wool fabric comes in 22m to 25m in length and 18cm to 22cm in width. The making of this wool takes one week of tedious hand work; This is what makes Mr.Erbil’s Krr tie exclusive.
After the wool is made, the fabric meets the tailor. These ties are 100% handmade in Kurdistan region of Iraq.
The process of making this unique fabric begins in several small villages around Zakho, located in Bitwen and Pshdar, areas known for their handiwork. An ancient style wood weaver is used in forming the fabric and during the dying process, no chemicals are added, therefore each fur will have its unique color. Because each goat has a distinct set of DNA the possibility of having or getting the same tone of color from one batch to another is quite rare.
Mr. Erbil Krr ties was not only handmade locally, but that it was produced ethically. There is no harming of animals in the process. As a matter of fact, we consider the health and condition of the goats a major step in the process. The fur removing season begins in late spring, right before our fur friends need to be ready for the summer heat.
How to care for your Tie:
Because our ties are made with natural hairs we recommend you dry clean them, as a normal wash and dry could cause shrinkage. Avoid using perfumes and oils directly on the tie, as it could stain the fabric. To dry your tie, simply lay your tie on a flat surface and reshape if needed. Do not hang dry, as this will cause the wool fabric to stretch.
